My Yoga Classes

Hatha Yoga

One of the most commonly known Yoga practices which embodies Pranayama (breathing techniques),  Asanas (poses) which include standing postures, balances, twists, backbends, forward folds and hip openers to support the bodies full range of motion.  I break these postures down for ease and simplicity. Mediation (mindfulness and relaxation) helps to build strength, balance and flexibility in the body and mind!

I work from very gentle, seated Hatha through to energising flowing Hatha.

My classes are suitable for all adults regardless of experience.

Yin Yoga

A fusion of science, traditional Yoga and TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine).

The emphasis on Yin Yoga is to hold the poses for a length of time (around 3- 5mins) allowing passive stretching of the deeper connective tissues, helping to mobilise and strengthen our joints, ligaments, and our deep fascia networks. Fascia is the connective tissue covering that connects the muscles to each other, interweaving throughout the entire skeletal system. Here we are taken to what is described as our ‘edge’. The place of pleasure, discomfort (but never pain) but still a place where we may want to let go, give up or give in. It floor based, breath focused, mediative inducing bliss!

Restorative Yoga

Developed from the inspiration and teachings of B.K.S Iyengar, restorative yoga is a type of yoga where props are used extensively to support your body so you can hold poses for longer periods of time, this can be from 5 -15 mins. Postures are usually adapted from supine or seated yoga poses with the addition of blocks, bolsters, and blankets to eliminate unnecessary strain on the body, and provide comfort to support the individual practicing. It is a deeply relaxing and nurturing practice that is suitable for all bodies and all ages.

I have a deep passion for restorative yoga, knowing how valuable this space and practice is in supporting our unnaturally busy lifestyles we have to manage. It enables the mind and body to truly connect and to offer deep relaxation, nourishment, helping the body to switch on its parasympathetic nervous system, allowing restoration to take place.

I endeavour to create a class environment which is welcoming, safe, engaging and nurturing, sprinkled with a healthy dose of love, fun and smiles!
